Party-Ready With Just Two Pieces

If you're anything like me, most holiday events are casual to fancy-casual affairs and often the kids are included. If you want to feel a little extra festive, but can't quite justify a whole new outfit for these gatherings with family, friends, and colleagues I'm sharing some key pieces that will feel very merry for very little.

The two items you need to get party-ready are a beautiful top and a statement earring. Here are a few combos I spotted on a recent Target run, but you can pull pieces from your existing closet to create similar pairings or at least start with a favorite top and add a new bauble (or vice versa).

A jewel-tone wrap blouse is flattering on so many figures with it's cinched waist and v-neck. A multi-tone earring inspired by your top adds even more color by your face.

A bold tee with festive velvet detailing is fun and comfortable for a more casual setting. A metallic and black statement dangle dresses up the tee and will work for other dressy looks long into the new year.

A structured, cinched-waist top in shimmery black is a great elevated basic that could be worn later for a kid-free night out. These pearl and rhinestone earrings are a festive step up from basic pearl or diamond studs.

Wondering what to wear with these pretty combinations? If you're going for a dressier look, a black pencil skirt or trousers are sure bets. If a more casual vibe is what you're after, go with dark denim and fun flats or even tall boots.

Another benefit of these blouse and earring looks is how they practically beg you to pull your hair back into a simple pony or half-up style. There's no better way to show off the pretty baubles and flattering necklines.

Would you try this two-piece look for one of the dressy-casual events on your calendar?
